We learned this firsthand in 2009 when we needed to translate our product website into English. At the time, translation plugins, connectors, and other technology solutions were scarce, and our site used a rare content management system. Our local translation agency suggested a manual copy-and-paste approach to transfer the content from the CMS into a document for translation and back again. Needless to say, it was far from ideal.

There must be a better way

The biggest challenge in website translation is getting the source content from the site in a format that a translator can handle and return the translated content back to the site so that it appears in the same way as on the original.

As a seasoned, creative tech team, we knew there had to be a better way than copying and pasting everything, and then repeating it every time we update our site.

So we developed a solution to automatically translate any website.

Technically it was a dual website Translation Proxy approach that used both a server-side proxy and a client-side JavaScript method to get the source content. We even translated the content with MT and inserted the translations back into the website automatically.

That's how Easyling was born

We believed that we could help others make website translation easy, so we launched our solution and proudly received the kudos.

Easyling website translation solution was soon picked up by the largest translation agencies (LSPs), serving a great variety of websites.
